A Little History…

Quiet Storm Records was founded by john iervolino, a talented classic rock drummer and rhythm guitar player hailing from Santa Rosa, CA. In 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and embarked on an incredible adventure that led him to Germany. It was during his time there that he immersed himself in the arts of MCing, DJing, and remixing, mastering the craft with finesse.

In 1983, destiny brought john to the mesmerizing shores of Honolulu, where his remixing prowess reached new heights. His remixes of tracks by esteemed artists such as Falco, Janet Jackson, and Jellybean featuring Madonna soared to number one on commercial radio, making history and captivating audiences nationally.

Despite facing numerous challenges, john’s resilience and unwavering dedication eventually paid off. In 1999, Quiet Storm Records joined forces with the Universal Music Group, marking a pivotal moment in the label’s history. This partnership propelled the label to new heights, producing a remarkable array of eight national best-selling albums.

The releases, including the groundbreaking “Roots Music: Reggae Hits From Hawai‘i and The World,” captured the hearts of listeners and critics alike. The success of the Roots Music series paved the way for subsequent national chart-topping albums like the Island Roots and Pure Hawaiian series. The release of Sudden Rush “EA” was another milestone victory, as the television network A&E licensed the album for the first three seasons of the hit reality show, Dog The Bounty Hunter.

Quiet Storm Records commitment to excellence and artistic integrity is unwavering. In collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Reggie Griffin, the label released the exquisite “Smooth Island Jazz” in 2003, which surpassed all expectations. This album, available exclusively on compact disc, garnered substantial royalties and left an indelible impact on the music scene.
